I think the lack of a March/April iOS 5 preview pretty much confirmed that. No new OS, no new iPhone. If we get the preview in June at WWDC, that means we get new hardware in September, which is likely to be the launch date of iOS 5.
This again is based off of Apple always shipping a new OS with a new iPhone.
Totally agree with you, last April iOS 4 was previewed then released 2 months later with the iPhone 4.
If Apple was planning to release iOS 5 in June it would have previewed it by now so developers have the time they need to work on it.

Surprising how heated the debate on this can get - I think it's a great story.
Boy makes mistake (as does mother, in not supervising him closely enough). The mother asks for help from Apple, and Apple complies even though they don't have to. The boy, and his mother are very unlikely to make the same mistake again - and the same holds for any parent reading this story! :p

Hmm, modal software. This used to be a very undesirable characteristic, a violation of the Mac interface guidelines. I don't see the problem with the way Pages handles layouts and word processing now. It sounds like Apple may be caving into the critics who want Pages to be more like Word. I hope not.

If apple got their dual-band world phone out a year earlier, for all carriers, it would have made a huge difference!!!! I can't believe apple is delaying the iPhone 5!!!!!!!!!!

Apple stock is tanking because Apple stopped making tools (which people need) and started making fashion objects (which are the first to go in a recession.)
Maybe if Apple would make some real computers at fair prices... instead of these toys...

Zune isn't out yet!!!
There is no incentive to go to a Zune. Same DRM, same features. The people who hate the iPod and buy Creative aren't switching to Zune. They don't want to be locked into DRM. So unless microsoft really does something innovative it is just another player in a sea of non-iPods.
EDIT: I mean same DRM in the sense that the download are locked by DRM, not exactly the same type.

They have GOT to fix the battery drain issue. It started with 4.3 and was NOT fixed with 4.3.1.
If your device is dead, "fixing" the other things doesn't really accomplish anything does it?

As a few others have said, the software is where it's at. Apple knows this. I dont think it really matters when they come out with another iPhone. They've got an amazing device with the iPhone 4 that can run pretty much anything normal people throw at it. If they can update the software to correct the few flaws it does have, it's going to be the perfect phone and the 5 will just further refine that. Everyone should really be focused on the conference in June.

They probably have algorithm's for getting the most possible money out of you.....if you don't see this your blind...Wait for something that actually makes a difference...not just a different color. iMac = 3 years old
And both will be upgraded to Lion. No problems yet , even 1080p content plays well, slight lag to catch up when RWD or FF other than that no problems. :)
Apple do have some great lines. My iMac is 5 years old yet I just finished Portal 2 (in Bootcamp, medium settings at native res. Overclocked GPU), I've developed and tested HD games, watched HD films on it, managed very large data libraries (iPhoto; 50gb. iTunes; 320gb). Still runs just fine.
Infact I could have survived another year on it if the DVD drive didn't recently pack in.

i bought it on friday and man the sound is amazing=D!!! the only thing missing is that i have to buy a HDMI Switcher for my PS3:) so i can enjoy my blu-ray movies/concert on my 32" TV and it all fitted in my room hehe:P

I've been an AAPL shareholder on and off since 1982. The company has NEVER been healthier or hotter than it is now. We all know about the record sales of Macs, iPods, iPhones, etc. I was at a major shopping center on weekday afternoon a few days ago, and the Apple Store was literally the only store in the mall that could have been classified as "busy" (and not just with lookers but with buyers).
Yes, with things so good at the moment one has to wonder where the room for improvement is? Markets are forward looking and it would seem the markets don't see much room for improvement right now.

Let's face it: Apple is a monopoly, but with such a small market share, it is a monopoly that we have freely chosen to deal with. We Mac consumers cannot go to the DOJ and claim we have no alternatives (just because your alternatives suck doesn't mean you don't have them.) If Apple were wildly successful and exceeded this threshold market share, their business model may be interfered with by the government.
By definition, having alternatives makes Apple NOT a monopoly.
On a side note, who actually voted negatively for this news item? It makes no sense
