Sounds like a "who cares?" kind of thing, but that's actually kind of a big deal if it creates case fragmentation. Not good. Hopefully inaccurate.
Case Fragmentation? HAAA! The funniest thing I have read all day.

How about a two-column landscape layout? You'll need to set the margins, columns and the gutters properly, but after that, you should be good to go. (Then you can save it as a template for next time.)

nothing has even been released yet. why does a cloud have to run across multiple geographic locations? as long as it's online in the cloud it doesn't matter where it is.
It'll be a pathetic excuse for a cloud if it'll only stream in the US (which if they continue with this 1 datacenter model will be the case). Amazon will beat them here, hands down. Have you seen how many datacenters they have?
http://www.datacenterknowledge.com/archives/2008/11/18/where-amazons-data-centers-are-located/
^ That vs 1 datacenter...lets think...who's going to get the better performance...
Also, the point of the cloud is redundancy. What happens WHEN the 1 datacenter goes down (e.g power problems, network problems, natural disasters, etc)? Apple's will be wiped out in one move, Amazon just fail over to another DC location.

I'm not too sure I agree with the reason you give though. My main concern is quality control. Even with the paltry share increase Apple has seen during the past year, quality control has become an issue. Would not like to see how much poorer with a 10% share thats all
Well Apple is using Intel parts now that explains the lower quality. They're taking their parts from the same bin now; quality suffers...

That settles nothing as it is inaccurate.
- Grid of icons: Check
- A bottom line of icons (or dock): Check
- One button: Check
- Round corners on bezel: Check
If this is inaccurate, then Apple's claim is inaccurate as well. Because, sure, there are all sorts of details that make this phone different from the iPhone.
I'm not saying that the iPhone is ripped off from the F700. I'm saying that there are a lot of similarities, just as there are a lot of similarities pointed out in Apple's claim.
I predict they will not stick.

I'm not sure. I'm going to be reserving at best buy in a few hours. If they have iPads, yay. If not at least I have $100 down.
Ya I guess not a bad way to go.
Btw...Called Brea Apple store and they are not opening early for iPad sales as is rumored for other stores. At least thats what I was told. It could be a conspiracy

Around here AIM is all anyone uses...
Well around here most people use MSN with a smattering of Google's Jabber messenger thing. As pointed out elsewhere, it's very geographical dependant (i.e. AIM in the US, MSN everywhere else).
I have just switched to Mac, and it's annoying I cant Video Conference with any MSN Messenger users (MSN Messenger on Mac doesnt support it). iChat is awesome but I have no contacts, lol. Anyone know of any other way, I have tried AdiumX and looked into Jabber.
I've tried aMSN/Mercury and plain didn't like it. Ugly, slow and couldn't get my iSight to even look like it was going to work. Now playing around with the Yahoo messenger for video chats since the Y!/MSN protocol partnership.

TBH, I'd rather deal with dropped calls than VZW's inability to handle data and phone calls at the same time. I had a lot of OTA programs on my Tour and Storm, and I missed about 1/4 calls that were sent to me. Most were during the working day. The worst was when my mom was frantically trying to reach me because my grandmother had to go to the ER.

Well I got to irvine way late. Walked up and the person in front of me got the last ticket. They seemed to have less than 50-70units as that how many people seemed to be in line.
Mission Viejo? Or just wait?
Is this at the spectrum?

Yeah, after all if you buy a coffee there u have to sign a waiver of responsibility for burns, then reply YES three times to the cashier asking "Are you sure you want to buy this potentially scalding-hot coffee?" ... but what's it matter, thanks to people not wanting to take responsibility we can't buy coffee above 82 degrees fahrenheit. lol
:-)
funny you mentoned it. I always order their iced coffee. large 32oz with 7 shots of hazzelnut and 7 pumps of cream. evens it all out... mmmmmmmmm
darn.... I want one now......
but yeah people are stupid. "dont eat mcdonalds. It makes you fat"
Really? Do they hold a gun to your head telling you that you have to eat it? No. you walk in there on your own free will knowing full well its bad for you.

I like your idea and I think it would work in many situations if there is indeed going to be a "transition phase" toward a new type of connection format. However, I'll stick by my prediction as it offers the maximum benefit for Apple and its third party partners while keeping the whole user interaction simpler and more elegant. The Nike situation is different in the respect that it is really the only way to make a product like that workcan't have a bunch of wires getting in the way of running. I know the iPod Hi-Fi probably isn't selling well enough for Apple to worry that a new connection format would hurt their own profit margin much, but there are a LOT of third party partners out there that have only recently given it their best because Apple has probably assured them that the dock connector will be around for quite some time, so third party R&D won't be a black hole or recurring expense in that area. It is what has helped the accessory market evolve to the point it has, which has benefitted Apple immensly-don't think Apple doesn't realize that fact! It is also what is missing from the also-ran MP3 manufacturers: not enough consistency to make it worth their investment to produce for those products.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, it COULD have both....
how about
a 30 $ optional wireless receiver that acts as a female dock connector to plug into the existing iPod docks?
